Fighting for enforcement of 1866 treaty rights of Descendants of Five tribes freedmen
Join us for a Black History Month celebration, organized by the Cherokee Nation, the Descendants of Freedmen of the 5 Civilized Tribes and the North Tulsa Cherokee Community Organization, this Friday, February 16!
The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. at the Greenwood Cultural Center, 322 N. Greenwood Ave., in Tulsa.
A light lunch will be provided by Carnell Brooks, a Cherokee citizen of Freedmen descent.

Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. will be making some big announcements and signing a proclamation to officially declare February as Black History Month in the Cherokee Nation!
Chief Hoskin’s remarks will be live-streamed, so make sure to tune in on Cherokee Nation’s Facebook page.

The 5 Civilized Tribes of Oklahoma are the Cherokee Nation, Chickasaw Nation, Choctaw Nation, Muscogee Creek Nation, and Seminole Nation.
We provide education about the history and culture of the African-Indian freedmen and their descendants of the 5 tribes.
